Databases

1881 Census of Canada

Access to the Ancestry Library Edition website is restricted to KFPL branches. A subscription is required outside of the KFPL network.

This database is an every name index to individuals enumerated in the 1881 Canada Census, the second census of Canada since confederation in 1867. In addition, the names of those listed on the population schedule are linked to actual images of the 1881 Census (images are of Library and Archives Canada microfilm reels C-13162 to C-13286).

Microfilms

1881 Census Microfilm

The microfilm reels are in the top right-hand drawer of the microfilm cabinet.

They cover the City of Kingston and all of Frontenac County.

The reel numbers are:

  • C-13235
  • C-13236
  • C-13237

However, the microfilm reels do not include an index.
