The Ups and Downs magazine was published from August 1895 to December 1949 in Toronto by the Canadian Branch of Dr. Barnardo’s organization, which brought more British Home Children to Canada than any other group.

[British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa’s] database ... contains almost 61,000 line items from the magazine, mostly names. There is, therefore, a reasonable chance a child who arrived in Canada through Dr. Barnardo’s organization or an affiliate is mentioned in the magazine.
